Rules

REGISTRATION OPEN NOW

If you want to submit your narrative films into the Very Good Film Fest we need you to follow a few basic rules and make sure your film matches the criteria. Please read this page carefully. 15 entries will be selected for public screening. Most of your footage must be shot locally. No raw stock footage only submissions.

LENGTH: 3-5 Minutes

Not too short, not too long. This is the perfect length to tell a small story. If your film goes a second over, we won’t be using it in the festival so be diligent. If it’s under, we’ll make a judgment call on whether or not we feel it works with our format.

RATING: PG

If Disney will let you see it, we probably will too. Keep it clean and family friendly folks. Ultimately the Very Good crew will make judgments on your film to make sure it fits within the tone we are looking for. If you are not sure where the line is, feel free to drop us a line on the contact page.

WAIVERS AND LIKENESS RIGHTS (LEGAL STUFF)

EVERYONE on camera, even if it’s just a voice, will need to sign our waiver which you can find here. We have provided it as a PDF and you will be required to submit it with your film. If we are missing the paperwork, we may contact you. If we can’t get the paperwork in order by the final deadline, we’ll have to disqualify the film.

FORMATS AND SIZE

Video comes in many forms. We are asking users to submit the most common format out there MP4. We are also asking that your film be under 1 GIG of space. If you’re having problems meeting these requirements, let us know.

NO ADVERTISEMENTS

This should go without saying but the minute you do that someone is trying to sell you a fine leather jacket and protein gel packs. Even though this event is put on by a marketing company who thinks advertising is the best thing since early man said “Hey look!”, no ads allowed.
